
Holt Middle School Science Explorers experienced an Urban Water Tour today, visiting the Beaver Water District in Lowell and the West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant in Fayetteville!
This hands-on field experience taught them all about the science of water treatment, conservation, and sustainability — important lessons for protecting our planet’s future!

6th grade Science Explorers are taking learning to the next level with hands on activities. Eagle Cap students created sculptures for their upcoming Human Body Systems Museum. Last week they created armatures and this week they plastered the armatures. They will be ready to paint next week!

Last weekend, Fayetteville High School hosted the VEX V5 Robotics Competition, where 38 high school and 15 middle school teams from across the region competed in intense 2v2 robot battles! Organized by DogByte Robotics, the event showcased creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving as students worked with mentors to design and build innovative robots. 🌍🤖
Seven of our highschool teams made it to elimination rounds and one made it to semifinals. Three district middle school teams made it to elimination rounds with one making it to semifinals. Middle School Team 7187R, the "High Steaks" team, qualified for the State Championship in March.
A special thanks to the over 150 dedicated volunteers that kept the competition running smoothly.

🕷️🐞 Fayetteville Public Schools students had an un-bee-lievable time at the University of Arkansas Insect Festival! 🐝🐛 From giant beetles to colorful butterflies, students explored a buzzing world of insects and arthropods, learning about the beauty and importance of these fascinating creatures. Butterfield Trail Elementary third graders recently held their very own “Frog & Toad” election! 🐸🦎 With guest speakers delivering “campaign” speeches and the School Resource Officer guarding the ballot boxes, students enjoyed a fun, hands-on voting experience. Each student proudly received an “I voted” sticker, celebrating their role in this important civic activity!

The Fayetteville Arkansas Police Department's K-9 division stopped by to teach students all about the incredible skills and responsibilities of their hardworking dogs.
Students learned about the many roles of K-9s, including how they assist police personnel to:
🔍 Track suspects
🔍 Search for articles or evidence of a crime
🏢 Conduct building searches
👮♂️ Assist in the arrest or apprehension of felons
🚨 Search for lost persons
A big thank you to the Fayetteville Arkansas Police Department K-9 unit for an unforgettable morning! Our students loved learning about the amazing work these dogs and their handlers do to keep us safe! 🐾💙

GT students at Holt have been learning about water scarcity as a part of their semester long sustainable agriculture unit. This week, students had a lesson in empathy as they participated in a water walk to better understand how one-third of the world’s population deals with having no access to water. Students walked almost 2 miles, carrying about 10 lbs of water, during this activity to gain perspective!










Today, Holt Science Explorers were treated to an incredible surprise—a helicopter landing right on site! 🚁🔥 As part of their Air and Space Unit, they’ve been exploring the wonders of energy and its applications in aviation. Seeing science come to life was an unforgettable moment for these young explorers!

Holt Middle School students in Mr. Allred’s class took their temperature, pulse, and blood pressure in their first Medical Detectives lab. Students are learning how to measure and interpret vital signs, and how the systems of the human body work together to maintain health.
